have always loved art and this is reflected in the focus on cosmetics in
my practice. I have a passion for esthetic dentistry and providing
patients with the most beautiful smile possible. Of course, each person
has specific needs and wants. The technology available today allows us in
the dental profession to be able to meet, and sometimes exceed patients'
expectations.
Esthetic dentistry is a blend of art and
science, and we take our passion very seriously. My staff and I take over
100 hours of continuing education seminars annually to stay abreast of the
latest techniques and technology, so that we can provide the very latest
that is available to each patient.

BACKGROUND
Dr. Yen obtained his BA from the
University of California at Santa Barbara in 1981. He graduated with
honors in 1985 from Northwestern University Dental School, Chicago,
Illinois. He went to 4 more years of specialty training in prosthodontics,
implants, dental oncology, and maxillofacial prosthetics in Texas.
He is board certified by the
American Board of Prosthodontics (recognized by the ABP to be the youngest
prosthodontist ever to do so) and an elected fellow of both the American
College of Prosthodontics and the American Academy of Maxillofacial
Prosthetics.
He has taught at the University of Southern
California School of Dentistry in the Advanced Prosthodontics program. He was also an associate editor of the Journal of
Prosthodontics, the national journal of the American College of
Prosthodontists. He is a member of the American
Dental Association and the California Dental Association.
WHAT
IS A PROSTHODONIST?
A prosthodontist is a specialist in the
restoration and replacement of teeth...someone who has taken 3 years of
additional training after graduating from dental school. After graduating
from an accredited program, and practicing for a required period of time,
a prosthodontist can then go on to take a vigorous national certification
exam, that tests both his/her academic and clinical proficiency.
After successfully passing this multi-part exam, the prosthodontist
becomes "board-certified."

Dr. Yen has a great interest in all forms of art and has been involved
with oil painting, sculpting, cooking and photography for many years.
His passion is Impressionist art, and he paints whenever he can.
His artistry has helped tremendously in designing and creating
beautiful smiles for his patients, for he believes there’s a common
theme that connects all nature’s beauty whether it is captured on canvas
or created in the mouth. All forms of art have basic disciplines which are
enhanced by individual creativity. Aesthetic
dentistry has disciplines based on science, however its practice is
exemplified by the dentist’s skills, experience, and personal
creativity.
